90th Anniversary exhibition by local camera club

A diverse exhibition of photographic prints will soon be arriving in celebration of the 90th anniversary of Leigh-on-Sea Camera Club.

The exhibition is being held at the Forum, Southend-on-Sea, and will be open to the public from Thursday 22 August to Tuesday 17 September.

Keith Fenton, from the Leigh-on-Sea Camera Club said: “Visitors will be able to experience examples of work created by our members who may have a range of photographic experience. There will be a variety of subjects on display which should be attractive to the whole community,

“We would hope that visitors go away with the experience of seeing some fine photography which may stimulate their own interest in photography or perhaps encourage them to take up this creative and satisfying art.”

Leigh on Sea Camera Club was formed in 1929 to promote the art of photo imagery, and is still going strong today. It is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) through the East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies (EAF) and as such they take part in a variety of inter-club competitions, a great way for members to look at work from other camera clubs.

The weekly meetings, held on Thursday at the Leigh Community Centre, include image competitions, informative programs, with high quality speakers, and member talks. All levels of photography are catered for and beginners are made very welcome. Mr Fenton added: “There is always a warm and friendly atmosphere at the club and during the refreshment break members can view others' work, ask advice or simply get to know each other. There are occasional day trips and meet ups arranged in Leigh so members get a chance to have a good chat on all subjects, not only photography.”
